Apple Now Selling Refurbished iPhones Online

Before today, you could purchase a refurbished iPad or Mac — but not an iPhone — online from Apple. That’s changing as the tech company is now offering customers the chance to purchase refurbished iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus online.

9to5 Mac reports that Apple’s online refurb store is stocked with iPhones for the first time.

The eight phones listed, which cost either $529 or $589, will save customers an estimated 15% compared to purchasing a brand new device.

According to Apple’s website, the refurbished phones are unlocked, SIM-free, include a new battery and outer shell, and come with a one-year factory warranty.

“We test and certify all Apple refurbished products,” the company says, noting that supplies are “limited and availability is guaranteed once we receive your full payment.”

Apple’s decision to sell refurbished phones online comes nine months after Apple began accepting trade-ins of newer iPhones with cracked screens and other dings.

Still, 9to5 Mac reports that the phones are probably coming from the company’s iPhone Upgrade Program, which likely saw an influx of iPhone 6s devices with the recent release of the iPhone 7.
