Reser’s Recalls Salads For Possible Listeria, Also Sold Under Walmart And Safeway Brands

Reser’s Fine Foods may not be a food brand name that you immediately recognize, but their products are popular across the country, and are also sold under store brand names. From a 3-ounce container of Reser’s brand potato salad to an 8-pound tub of Sysco-brand macaroni salad meant for restaurants and cafeterias, cold salads containing onions from Reser’s have been recalled.

It’s possible that these Listeria-laden onions made it to other food producers, or were sold at retail, so brace yourselves for another fascinating lesson in how our food supply chain works, much like the Great Spinach Recall of 2015.

Reser’s announced the recall after learning about the possible contamination from their onion supplier. Here’s a handy chart of affected items, which include potato salad, macaroni salad, and tuna salad. They were sold under the Reser’s, Stonemill Kitchens, Walmart, and Safeway brands.
