Fear not, Galaxy Note 5 owners, you’ll no longer need to rely simply on a warning sticker to keep from accidentally breaking your stuff: Samsung’s next generation of the devices will only allow the stylus to be inserted the correct way, thus avoiding the danger of damaging the entire thing.

When owners of the Galaxy Note 5 stuck the S-Pen in with the pointy part first — the wrong way — it could get lodged there. Forcefully removing it could break the top off the pen or keep it from ejecting the pen in the future. At first, Samsung shipped the Note 5 with a warning sticker.

The company has moved on with a physical solution for new Galaxy Note 5 devices, reports Phandroid (h/t Ars Technica). Before, when the S-Pen was shoved in backwards, its shape would catch a spring-loaded switch that detects when the stylus is in place, instead of pushing it down.

According to Phandroid, Samsung has now put a flexible, plastic cover over the internal switch. Now if it’s put in backwards, the plastic piece acts like a ramp and the pen pushes the switch down instead of catching it, like it used to.

Phandroid’s source says it works well, despite the fact that the new piece appears to be held in place with a piece of tape.

The company confirmed the report to The Verge.

“Samsung can confirm that the Note 5 internal S Pen mechanism has been changed to avoid the issue caused by inserting the S Pen incorrectly,” said the company, adding: “As always, we recommend following proper instructions for storing the S Pen.”
