Seven months of flying just about anywhere you want for relatively little cost sounds like a dream to many of us. For some residents of Atlanta it might actually become a reality as part of Southwest Airlines’ latest promotion to court the city’s travelers.

WABE in Atlanta reports that Southwest launched a new promotion offering a companion pass – which allows pass holders to fly a friend for free – to residents of the city if they meet certain requirements.

The promotion is only for residents of Atlanta (living in select ZIP codes) who purchase three qualifying round trips on the airline from Hartsfield-Jackson beginning today until May 17.

Southwest describes the promotion’s qualifying roundtrips as those that are a revenue flight from Atlanta to a “destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines, and back to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport within the same reservation.”

Additionally, the airline says that flights already booked or booked as Award, Companion Pass, Southwest Vacations Packages, Southwest Charter flights, and reward travel do not qualify for the promotion.

Once qualifying trips are completed, travelers will receive a companion pass – which is usually reserved for passengers who rack up more than 110,000 Rapid Rewards points in one year – that is valid until December 31.

Additionally, travelers must sign up for, or already be enrolled in, the airline’s Rapid Rewards frequent flier program.

While people flying with companion pass don’t have to pay carrier charges they do have to pay a Sept. 11 security fee of $5.60 per segment and taxes for certain international destinations.
