Face It: The Ability To Stream Any Episode Of ‘The Simpsons’ Means Your Productivity Is Shot
As if there aren’t enough things on the Internet to keep us well-intentioned folks functioning as responsible adults, FXX told TV reporters this week that Simpsons World online portal will launch in October, with all the trappings of a fan’s paradise.
According to HitFix, not only will there be a browsable directory of all Simpsons episodes (not including original clips from The Tracy Ullman Show at this point) online and on an app, but a search function that allows users to find jokes or scenes.
There’s also a curatable playlist of episodes and/or scenes, which will learn as you watch and suggest other content and an episode guide that you can run while watching an episode. Each episode will have a script available as well, for easy quotable. As if you need a script, you’ll scoff to your pals when telling them about this thing you just read online about Simpsons World.
The one catch? Access to the portal requires your TV service provider’s authentication to watch full episodes. Clips will be available without it, but for the rest, you’ll need a login.
So far, FX has deals with roughly 60% of the country’s providers, including AT&T, Cablevision, Comcast, Cox and Time-Warner. The company says it’s likely that it’ll close deals with the rest in the next year or so.
The app will be available on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, Apple TV, Samsung, XBox1 and XBox360, at least for the time being.
It’s not like you were all that productive anyway.
