Adding Decimal Places Does Not Mean These Tastykakes Are On Sale

When you add decimal points to a price, does that make it a different number? That is to say, is $1 different than $1.00? It’s more accurate, sure, but it’s not a discount. Unless you’re shopping at Dollar General with reader John.

“These TastyKakes cupcakes were previously ‘1’,” he writes, “but now they’re discounted to ‘1.00.’ What a great deal!” Yes, we have to wonder how John could resist buying all of them at once.

Meanwhile, over on the savory end of the snack spectrum, reader AJ spotted a hot sale on breadstick and cheese snack packs. At least this is an actual sale. Sort of. Almost.
