A software glitch in some of Ford’s Escape SUV and C-MAX vehicles may prevent airbags from deploying immediately, so the carmaker has recalled a total of 692,500 vehicles to fix this potentially deadly problem.

According to the AP, the recall affects model years 2013 and 2014 for both vehicles. The majority of the recall impacts Escape owners, as C-MAX only accounts for around 1/10 of the total number of vehicles being recalled.

In addition to the airbag-related recall, Ford is issuing a separate recall for 692,700 Escapes to fix a problem with the door handle that could keep a door from properly latching and allow it to open while the car is being driven.

All of the Escapes in the first recall are also part of the second recall.

Ford says it has no reports of crashes or injuries resulting from either defect.
