Charter Customer Pleads Guilty To Making Bomb Threat On Customer Service Office
As people who not only spend all day looking at readers’ complaints about the companies they deal with but who also have cable subscriptions of our very own, we get being frustrated with your cable company. Calling in a bomb threat, however, is a terrible idea. A Minnesota man accused of doing just that pleaded guilty to a lesser charge this week.
Back in July of 2012, the man was on the phone with Charter when he got really angry. Like all cable customers do at some point, but most customers don’t threaten to blow the place up. His exact words: “I guess I’m going to have to deal with the Duluth office by kicking down the door and blowing it up.” Authorities learned that he was a Marine veteran and had a handgun permit, and arrested him in front of the Charter building.
He had been charged with a felony count of making terroristic threats, but the plea deal brought that down to one misdemeanor count: trespassing on a public service utility. That felony count is still a threat, but only for the first two years and only if he violates his probation.
