All police know is this: the two men who got into a fight inside the Sports Authority knew each other, and had a physical altercation. Unfortunately, they happened to be in a sporting goods store, where baseball bats are handy. Now one of the men is dead, and the other has been arrested for his murder.

By the time police arrived at the Sports Authority store in Milpitas, California, the suspect, a 26-year-old transient, struck the victim repeatedly with a baseball bat that he had apparently picked up from store shelves. Police are looking for information from the public, but say that the killing was not gang-related and there’s no threat to the shopping public now that the suspect is in custody.

This is the third homicide in the last five years at this particular mall.
