Not every fast food restaurant employee has weapons available to thwart robberies, but at a place like Dunkin’ Donuts there’s one very hot, effective tool at hand. Yes, coffee. Hot, steaming, flying through the air at your face coffee.

A Dunkin’ worker made use of the joint’s readily accessible beverage-turned-weapon when a man allegedly tried to rob a Connecticut store. NBC Connecticut says the attempted robbery happened late Saturday night when a man pulled into the drive-through and asked for change for a $100 bill.

Cops say that after the clerk refused to make change, the man informed her that this was a robbery and tried to get in the store via the drive-through window.

“He rushed himself, tried to get out of his car. That’s when I realized he was serious. I tried to close the window. He put his arm in it. He knew not to touch, because he knew there would be fingerprints,” she said.

At which point she tossed the hot coffee she’d just prepared as part of his order right in his face. She then looked around grabbed another pot of coffee and threw that for good measure. As he ran away toward his truck she says she told him, “Go run on Dunkin’. ”

Oh, snap!

Police say he fled without getting anything other than a painfully-learned lesson that perhaps he should’ve ordered his beverage iced.
