JetBlue Keeping Door Open To Free In-Flight WiFi
Skift.com reports that JetBlue CEO Dave Barger told folks at the JPMorgan Aviation, Transportation & Defense Conference that “we’re evaluating pricing into the future, including keeping it free, and so we’ll see how that plays out.”
It could be a while before the airline needs to make that decision, as it is just beginning the WiFi installations and doesn’t plan on having its entire fleet connected to the new ViaSat service until the end of 2015.
Given the airline industry’s tendency to nickel-and-dime passengers with ancillary fees, free WiFi could be a marketing coup for JetBlue, especially if it delivers at the speeds and capacity the airline is promising.
Right now, it’s all just a waiting game… much like a lot of things with the airline industry.
