Apparently All Gingers Look The Same To Wells Fargo Because I Am Not A Cat
I get it — redheads are rare and so some people might not realize that hey, that ginger in a picture is actually somebody else. We all look the same to some people, so whatever. But for one Wells Fargo debit card holder, that hair color blindness has apparently led someone at Wells Fargo very far astray, as the bank allowed a ginger cat to be featured on his card instead of an actual human being.
The photo on imgur (via reddit) shows that Todd, a Texas resident, has a set of nice, gingery locks. And so does the smiling kitty cat on his bank card.
We’d just love to be a fly on the wall anywhere Todd uses his card. Although if a major banking institution can’t tell the difference in species, maybe no one else would bat an eye either.
We’ve reached out to Wells Fargo to see if they can shed any light on how such an inter-species mixup could happen. A rep says the company has seen the photo and has promised to get back to us shortly.
UPDATE: Turns out this photo is all on the up-and-up, according to a spokeswoman for Wells Fargo. It’s just an additional option for customers and not a form of identification. So he can continue having a blast with his cat face.
“Adding an image to our Wells Fargo Debit Card is not positioned as a form of identification, and, therefore, the image does fall within our standards and the Guidelines on our website,” she tells Consumerist. “We appreciate the customer’s business and hope he enjoys his personalized debit card.”
