FedEx Hiring 20,000 Seasonal Workers To Deal With Upcoming Holiday Rush
Tis the season to sit at home and click, click, click buy and send presents to loved ones around the world. This year, FedEx is expecting even more shipping traffic than it did last year and as such is hiring 20,000 seasonal workers to help make things run smoothly.
FedEx is predicting holiday shipping bump of 13% over last year, with an estimated 280 million packages going out during the season. Dec. 10 will likely be the busiest day of the season with 19 million shipments on that day alone.
Because FedEx has been keeping up with hiring more workers throughout the year, it says it doesn’t need to bring any more in this season than last years. The employees are needed especially in the divisions that handle online retail traffic.
The 20,000 FedEx jobs will be a boon to retailer job hunters, as not everyone is adding as much help this year. Target already reported that it would be hiring less seasonal workers than last year because it also hired people for year-round jobs, whereas Amazon is adding 50,000 workers to its payrolls during the holiday season.
