Apple just can’t accept that its products are too cool to have been copied by Samsung, but yet another judge shut down the company’s complaints about its rival’s tablet computers. An appeals court in London affirmed an earlier ruling that had cleared Samsung of cribbing from Apple’s designs, a ruling which may finally end the legal battles between the two companies.

Britain’s Court of Appeal upheld the High Court’s earlier ruling that even if the two tablets are kinda similar looking, the Galaxy tablet is simply not an infringement on Apple designs because it is “not as cool,” notes Reuters.

This decision will hold up all through Europe and is likely going to prevent any further patent disputes between the two companies there — at least so far as the iPad vs. Galaxy battle is concerned.

Samsung is pleased as punch with the decision, as it had been with the previous ruling as well, saying in a statement: “We continue to believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corners”.

Apple hasn’t publicly commented on the judgment, but had been told to run ads saying Samsung hadn’t copied the iPad, both on its own site and in certain newspapers. The company could still appeal to the Supreme Court, but experts say that’s not likely.

“I expect this will be the end of the line. An appeal to the Supreme Court is in principle possible but there has been no indication so far that Apple plan such an appeal”, a partner at a specialist intellectual property law firm, told Reuters. “For the design of tablets in Europe this should be the final word.”

Just sit back and rest on your laurels, Apple. You’re cool, a judge even said so.
