Facebook Loves Instagram So Much, It's Buying The Company For $1 Billion

Since it seems like most everyone’s Instragram photos end up in their Facebook stream, it just makes sense for the huge website to snap up the company behind the photo-sharing app for the princely sum of $1 billion.

“For years, we’ve focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family,” wrote Mark “Zucky” Zuckerberg on his Facebook page. “Now, we’ll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.

If Instagram fans are worried about what could happen to their fave app now that it’s been sucked up into the much bigger Facebook, Zuckerberg says, “we’re committed to building and growing Instagram independently… our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.”

After becoming very popular for the iPhone, Instagram finally debuted on Android phones last week.
