Just Because You Can Jiggle Snacks From A Vending Machine Doesn't Mean You Should

Who wants to bother fishing around for change and smoothing out crumpled dollars when you can just shake the snacks you want out of a vending machine? Oh, wait, that’s theft, as a few workers who allegedly employed the shake method to garner some munchies found out.

WBBM Newsradio in Chicago says eight workers on a night shift at an unspecified business have been accused of theft for jiggling a vending machine until it coughed up free snacks.

The temporary employees got the machine to yield up 17 bags of chips, six Kit-Kats, eight Snickers bars, four packs of Reese’s peanut butter cups and two packs of Starburst. Police say the suspects also went the extra mile and lifted $62 worth of change from the machine.

Come on now, between the eight of you, surely everyone could’ve come up with say, $4 each for all that junk food.

Besides, the only time it’s maybe sort of acceptable to take free stuff from the vending machine is when you’re seven years old at your family reunion and the machine is practically spitting out free candy bars after you key in the code for what you want, all without even a gentle nudge. Even then, your dad will probably yell at you. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
