AT&T Writes Check To Victor In Small Claims Court Suit

Even though AT&T had seemed quite intent on either appealing or coming to a different settlement with the California man who won a small claims court lawsuit against the company for throttling his so-called unlimited data plan, it now looks like the Death Star forces have retreated from this battle.

Over the weekend, the plaintiff in the case Tweeted a photo of the check for $935 ($850 + $85 in court costs), saying “It’s official! I win!”

An AT&T rep confirmed to Mashable that the company did indeed write the check.

“To me the check means AT&T didn’t stand a chance in the appeal,” said the California man, whose data was still being throttled as recently as Saturday. “If they did, they wouldn’t have paid me.”
