Barnes & Noble Won't Sell Physical Copies Of Kindle Exclusive Comics

After DC Comics gave exclusive digital rights to Amazon for a few of its comic book titles, Barnes & Noble is getting revenge by refusing to sell physical copies of those books in its stores.

Last week DC Comics made the exclusive deal with Amazon and its Kindle reader, giving Barnes & Npoble and their Nook the literary shaft, reports CNN. Barnes & Noble is defending the move by saying it’s the usual procedure.

“Regardless of the publisher, we will not stock physical books in our stores if we are not offered the available digital format,” the company’s chief merchant, Jaime Carey, said in a written statement. “To sell and promote the physical book in our store showrooms and not have the e-book available for sale would undermine our promise to Barnes & Noble customers to make available any book, anywhere, anytime.”

DC Comics is new to the digital game with this offering of 100 of their titles, which have never before been available in e-book format and will hit digital shelves Nov. 15. Barnes & Noble has gone ahead and answered that move by already pulling books like Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.

Kind of like a bratty high school fight, where the biggest loser is the innocent consumer bystanders, eh?
