So how do you protect yourself? As far as the number complaint goes, the group said one big way to save yourself a lot of problems is to make sure to only use a trusted mechanic with recommendations from other people you know. If you start having problems with one mechanic, take it to another instead of beating your head against a wall and possibly risking getting ripped off multiple times.
When buying a car, besides again only going to a dealership with a good recommendation, you can watch their eyes explode by showing up with your financing already taken care of through your bank or credit union. That’ll save you some shenanigans in the showroom.
