Just about any word in the English language, or any brand name, will be allowed to be turned into a top-level domain name under the program known as ” gTLD” or “Generic Top Level Domain.”
So look out for .nike, .mcdonalds .swissarmyknife. Only “established public or private organizations” will be allowed to apply and it’s not cheap. At $185,000 a pop, you’ll either need to be a major corporation, or willing to pony up for the ultimate vanity URL.
