Kansas Couple Convicted Of Ticket Scam, Sentenced To Prison
A University of Kansas ticket official and her husband were convicted of aiding a $2 million illegal ticket ring in which they admitting to stealing and selling basketball and football tickets.
The AP reports the wife, a former associate director of the KU ticket office, pleaded guilty along with her husband to conspiracy to defraud the United States through wire fraud, tax obstruction and interstate transportation of stolen property. She was sentenced to 57 months in prison and will be forced to pay part of the $2 million restitution for the crime. Her husband will serve 46 months.
The government accused the couple of being part of a ring of at least seven people, all who have pleaded guilty. Only one alleged conspirator, KU’s associate athletic director of development, remains to be sentenced. That will occur May 12.
