Sprint & T-Mobile Trying To Decide If They Should Go Steady
As AT&T and Verizon Wireless duke it out, their weaker rivals, Sprint Nextel Corp. and T-Mobile USA, are reportedly flirting with the idea of combining businesses in an effort to compete better.
Sprint and Deutsche Telekom, which T-Mobile is a subsidiary of, are looking into the merger, but it’s probably not going to happen soon, the Wall Street Journal reports. Right now, Sprint and T-Mobile are third and fourth in the wireless carrier game in the US. But since they can’t seem to agree on some big things — namely, how much T-Mobile is worth — it’s too soon to look for a deal.
There are also big questions like who exactly would own the company and lead it, sources tell the WSJ. Sprint wants to own more than half of the combined entity and get the honor of deciding its leadership, but the Germans in charge of T-Mobile aren’t too pumped to just own a minority stake.
Guess all we can do now is sit back and see if these two crazy kids decide to just go for it.
