By their very nature, courtrooms play host to any number of criminals. They’re just usually sitting at the defendant’s table and not in the jury box. But according to prosecutors in NYC, a woman who had been sitting on a jury in a recent criminal case stole the credit card of one of her fellow jurors and went on a shopping spree.

The woman was recently indicted by a grand jury on allegations that, while serving as a juror on a burglary trial in March 2010, she unlawfully used a fellow juror’s credit card to treat herself to $500 worth of clothes and shoes at stores near the courthouse.

Of interest: The trial the jurors were hearing also involved credit card theft.

The 20-year-old woman has entered a not guilty plea to charges with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, two counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree, one count of identity theft in the second degree, and two counts of petit larceny. If found guilty she could face up to four years behind bars.
