Recycle Your Xmas Tree
Don’t be one of those people with a Christmas tree up in February, recycle it! Here are some fun things that cities are doing with their trees.
NYC Mulchfest: “MulchFest provides New Yorkers an opportunity to bring their Christmas trees to designated sites where they are ground into wood chips….Participants are encouraged to bring bags to take advantage of the free mulch provided.”
Chicago Tree Recycling: “Join the Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago, Saturday, January 8th in making this holiday season more environmentally friendly by recycling your Christmas tree at one of 22 parks across the city. When you drop off your tree, you’ll receive some mulch and a year’s supply of blue bags that can be used in the City of Chicago’s recycling program!” Wow, this is worth it just for the blue bags.
LA Tree Recycling: “As an incentive to Los Angeles residents, the LADWP is pleased to provide a complimentary energy saving compact fluorescent bulb and a tree seedling for each tree recycled at each of the 28 convenient collection centers.”
