Ghirardelli Shamelessly Removes 5.5 Ounces From Hot Chocolate Can
We could feel Brian’s despair through the screen. How else should a person feel when they lose five ounces of Ghirardelli hot chocolate powder? “Downsized!” he wrote to us using the Consumerist tipster app. “Price stays same!”
He’s talking, of course, about one-pound cans of the brand’s hot chocolate powder. Yes, plastic pouches are easier to transport and store than great big cans. Yes, chocolate is a pricey commodity. Apparently, the customers who buy the priciest chocolate brand in the average grocery or discount store aren’t interested in paying extra for the full pound, and Ghirardelli must resort to Grocery Shrink Rayage to keep the chocolate flowing.
