Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at Security Theatre: An undercover TSA agent was able to slip through the full-body scanners at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with a handgun stashed in her undies… And not just once, but five times.
According to NBC, citing a source at the TSA, the agent was testing that airport’s security checkpoints and was able to pass through the scanners with the gun every time.
The source says that while the screeners in this situation were disciplined, they are still working at the airport and operating the scanners.
Here is the TSA’s non-statement:
Our security officers are one of the most heavily tested federal workforces in the nation. We regularly test our officers in a variety of ways to ensure the effectiveness of our technology, security measures and the overall layered system. For security reasons, we do not publicize or comment on the results of covert tests, however advanced imaging technology is an effective tool to detect both metallic and nonmetallic items hidden on passengers.

Last month, undercover TSA agents in Charlotte, NC, were able to get an unaccompanied package on a JetBlue flight for a $100 bribe.
