Reader Jay sent us this link to a training potty with a built in slot machine that goes off whenever it detects a “deposit.”
It’s probably not a good idea to introduce your kids to gambling at such an early age, but what really bothers us is associating the slots with a basic part of life, conditioning kids to want to gamble on the toilet. Do you really want your son spending an hour in the bathroom playing online poker on his iPhone?

A craps table would’ve been more appropriate.
Sorry.
@BathroomDuck: That might still be better than the one-armed bandit taking all their shit!
@valarmorghulis: Oh! Well said! LOL
Well at least you can be certain it won’t be Holdem!!
@BathroomDuck: And when it backs up, JACKPOT!
@dohtem: It’s true what they say… when you gamble, even when you win, you lose.
@BathroomDuck: BAR BAR BAR still trumps everything else.
@BathroomDuck: Well done.
I think this is to prepare kids to become adults who sh%t their pants when they blow a month’s entire paycheck on the slots.
They got the order backwards. Playing slots gets you crapped upon, not the other way around.
Another example of “clever punny name is not the same as good product”.
Typical Consumerist overreaction. Yawn.
@puddleglum411: To be fair, it certainly is an ill-conceived product.
@puddleglum411: Typical clueless comment from a consumerist reader. Yawn.
@alphafemale:
No I agree with puddle. It is certainly a dumb choice of product integration, but I wouldn’t get my underwear in a knot over it. I had a toy slot machine/bank when I was a kid and I saw it as just that: a toy. I didn’t grow up with some weird desire to gamble instead of save because of it. Conditioning kids to gamble on the toilet? I hope that’s a joke and that my sarcasm alarm is broken.
This could make for interesting conditioning leading to a very bad 21st in Vegas.
Teach them early; when you play the slots, you’re money goes down the toilet.
Honestly, do you truly believe that a child who just learning to use a potty is going to understand what a slot machine means to larger society? By the time that kid grows up he’ll have been exposed to LOTS of things that go “ding” when he does something good, and none of them will turn him into a gambler.
Hey IGT take note of this and make an adult version!
@albear: They make one, it’s called Little Green Men.
Either way, the odds of winning are pretty shitty…
@emptydarkone: haha I get it, you mean like poop
Wait, you guys better retract anything bad here.
“Adapter seat removes to fit an adult toilet”
That means we can have fun too!
Grossest tag ever!
The Golden Nugget (or Kin no Unko if the child is Japanese)!
This is also great for “runs” of luck.
Ironically, the target demographic of slots players wear Depends.
Atlantic City and Vegas should have this in their bathroom toilets.
I think it sends a good message by saying gambling is just like throwing money down the toilet.
A slot machine going off while using the toilet? That would scare the crap out of me.
If the kids facing the other way, how is he supposed to grab the lever and rip that bitch.
Also, this seems like something Michael Jackson would have had in his closet for the little boys and girls.
“‘Loosest’ slots in town”?
I see what you did there…
“to want to gamble on the toilet. Do you really want your son spending an hour in the bathroom playing online poker on his iPhone?”
It’s funny you would say that because a Congressman used similar language to pass the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act”, outlawing transfering of money to and from online poker accounts with one congressman citing the fact that a person could play poker in the bathroom (oh the shame).
What really killed me was that:
1. UIGEA, criminialized poker but legalized Horse betting and lotteries online.
2. The bastards snuck it into the Safe Ports act so that no one would stand up to it. “A vote no, is a vote for terrorism.”
Fucking polititions, too stupid to figure out how to tax it so they outlaw it.
That kid’s gonna be in trouble when he grows up and goes to a casino and tries to take a crap on a real slot machine.
Anybody else worried about the terrible Pavlovian Response this is bound to create as the child matures?
@Gene Gemperline:
WIN!!!!!
This is brilliant!! If I had kids or my cat could crap in the toilet I would be all over this.
Is this really that bad? It’s not like the kid is taught to shoot smack after dropping the kids off at the pool.
Well, if that thing could get my granddaughter to use the potty seat for #2, I’d buy it.
Damn, I’m heading to Vegas in a few hours. I wish I had known about this thing, as it would provide a much better outlet for the slot-machine-pooping activity that gets me arrested every time. Next time.
Every time I use the toilet, it’s a gamble. FOLKS! C’mon.
