IT’S WAR! Jamba Juice, home of the Diabetes Smoothie, is having a special freebie event giving out breakfast mush or something like that. Which store will you abandon your job for next Tuesday?
noon too late for breakfast mush.
I’m a diabetic. I thought WOW a diabetic smoothie!! I never thought I was gullible… more dreams dashed soon.
@Juggernaut: Me too! I was so excited, then I clicked through and… disappointment…
coffee at work is free
Hey everybody! Come to my house April 8th, at 9am PST/ 12pm EST for a special surprise!!
isn’t jamba juice owned by starbucks?
i’m pretty sure dudes.
A pal that works at Starbux told me what the “big event” is. Honestly, it isn’t really that big a deal.
Both, if I feel like it. The Jamba Juice is two shops down from Starbucks. Jamba Juice announced this around March 30, so Starbucks is trying to steal the show. I think Jamba is going to win this corporate show down. I wouldn’t drink Starbucks normal coffee blends if they gave me a lifetime pass. It tastes like crap and gives me a stomach ache all morning. It’s unbelievable that a coffee company can sell coffee that bad.
“Starbucks and its sister company, Jamba Juice, transformed from little more than ideas to major forces in isle retailing.”
here’s the source:
@ptkdude: I wonder if the coffee/juice war of 08 will give executives who survived the 80s soda wars flashbacks.
@B: They can do those blind taste tests to see how many people can tell the difference between Starbucks “coffee” and Jamba Juice smoothies.
@B: I know what side I prefer in this war, coffee, because it can upscale standard DVDs…
FYI it is *not* eating too much sugar that makes you diabetic. It’s being overweight (especially around the stomach), which is related to overall caloric intake and physical activity. This is an old wives’ tale that people continue to believe. (However, once someone is diabetic they have to lay off the sugar since their body can’t adequately control rises in blood sugar.)
The breakfast mush I guess is supposed to compare to your basic parfait of which I am a big fan of (especially Starbuck’s).
I tried one of the Jamba one’s earlier this week. Let’s just say I won’t be doing that again.
Ruh Roh – there’s a Starbucks and a Jamba Juice next door to each other in my ‘hood. With a bookstore in-between. Guess it’s up to them to keep the piece when the two get all Sharks vs Jets with all that shivving and stuff.
It’s okay. Nobody in their right mind messes w/ librarian types.
Or, lives to tell the tale.
And somehow, I live in the only town in America that has neither.
Starbucks in a walkover, as the nearest Jamba Juice is (checks) huh, New Haven? At least that was the idea… anyone know if it ever opened up in the Yale bookstore?
Hmm, considering that I’m in Baltimore, and the nearest Jamba Juice is 40 miles away in a DC suburb, I don’t think I’ll be going there. And given the hassle of leaving work, driving to starbucks, waiting in a long line, and then driving back to work and trying to find a parking space, I don’t think I’ll be going there either.
warm diet pepsi from my cubical, here I come!
@truthie: Really, an old wives’ tale? I thought it based on the well-researched and understood phenomena called insulin resistance.
@truthie: You Fail.
Starbucks and Jamba Juice are close partners, not competition. In fact, many jamba and starbucks locations are owned by the same people.
@BugMeNot2: So what is the big event? Tell us.
@truthie: You know, if you gotta get fat, you gotta get fat somehow. And that somehow is by eating too much. Most of what people eat too much of is sugar and refined carbs. Having observed how our eating habits have changed in the past 30 years or so, the big change is the huge increase in sugar consumption. People got plenty of grease in the 1960s, but they didn’t drink nearly as many Pepsis.
God I miss Zuka Juice. A lot better than the nasty tasting “healthy” crap that Jamba sells. No thank you, I don’t want fresh cut grass in my SMOOTHIE. I want fruit, I want milk, And I want Sugar!
My mouth still waters when I think about Zuka’s Pumpkin Smoothie… even though it was almost ten years ago.
