Save the stamps, Nokia will now let owners upgrade their firmware online by going here
Tipster Chris writes, “I found this yesterday, and last night I was able to upgrade my Nokia 6682 to the most current firmware version. It’s a big deal for Nokia owners because up to now Nokia has required that you send in your phone to a Nokia service center (or worse, some Cingular storefront?) to upgrade the firmware.”

Is the model above the same guy that was apparently getting blown in the paperless Chase ad from yesterday?
Are the firmware upgrades required to continue service? Often times, as was the case with Verizon multimedia capable phones and the Sony PSP, firmware upgrades actually made the devices worse by removing features that were available on the earlier versions…
Always be wary of firmware upgrades…
I took a look, and they don’t seem to document what’s changed in the latest firmware. Not clear what’s in it for me…
@ John Stracke:
Try howardforums.com. The nerds over there could tell you the differences between the firmware versions.
Hey! I’m not a nerd!…¬_¬
