‘Today’ Show Aptly Notes That Wisconsin Senator Will No Longer Be Running JCPenney

No wonder JCPenney axed former CEO Ron Johnson this week — it seems he’s been busy leading a double life as a Wisconsin senator. Or at least, that’s what the Today show seemed to think during its reporting of Johnson’s exit.

As noted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (a tip submitted by my mother as the parents of Consumerist staffers are our No. 1 fans), NBC aired a photo of the Wisconsin legislator instead of the man just dumped by JCPenney after 17 months of sliding sales and customer confusion.

While it’s fun to giggle at mistakes like this, it could’ve been a lot worse/funnier. Scroll down to see some other potential mix-ups that we wish had happened. Especially the last one, which would make so many dreams come true.

Don Johnson and his hair could run JCPenney.

Jimmy Johnson already has a job and it's way cooler than CEOing.

This is just a terrifying prospect.

If only Ron Swanson was in charge, we'd all be a lot better off.
