Walmart's New "Pay With Cash" Online Option Still Means A Trip To The Store
What bribery scandal? It’s business as usual at Walmart, as the company gets around to rolling out its new “Pay With Cash” option for shopping online, which works a lot like ordering takeout — you select what you want on Walmart.com, then head to a bricks-and-mortar store to pick your stuff up and pay cash.
We first wrote about the program last month as part of Walmart’s plan to increase its market share in the online retail business.
Now, USA Today has additional details on the program, which caters to customers who feel a bit squirrelly about handing over credit card info on the Internet.
“Many of our customers shop paycheck to paycheck and are looking for more ways to purchase items online but don’t have the means to a credit, debit or prepaid card,” said Joel Anderson, president and CEO of Walmart.com, in a statement. “Our new ‘Pay with Cash’ offering is designed just for them.”
After selecting your items on the website, you’ll get an order confirmation and email receipt, and you’ll have a 48-hour window to bring that to a Walmart store to go pay.
But you might not get your items right when you head to the store, either –¬†customers will either have their order shipped to the store or to their home once payment is complete.
So really, this program is ideal if you’d just like to add an extra step and a visit to a Walmart store to your shopping experience. Try it out, if you’re inclined, and let us know how it goes.
