Bank of America’s infamous $5 monthly debit card fee hasn’t quite caused enough backlash to make the bank Qwikster it away. But customers can cling to hope of the bank one day eliminating the fee, because at least an executive has spoken publicly about the hypothetical notion of getting rid of it.
According to The Street, the bank’s global corporate social responsibility executive told a customer that doing away with the fee would be “premature,” but “we constantly listen to our customer feedback.”
The executive’s response was to a customer who presented a Washington, D.C. branch with a petition signed by more than 153,000 customers calling for the fee’s elimination.
