Animal Rights Group Says It Torched Idaho Fur Shop
An Idaho store that sells fur coats and fireworks was set on fire Monday, and a group of animal rights activist say they started the blaze that caused $100,000 in damage. The admitted arsonists say they will strike again if the business resumes operation.
According to Reuters, the group says:
“By oppressing innocent life, you’ve lost your rights. We’ve come to take you down a notch. Stay in business and we’ll be back.”
Arson investigators say the admission is only one of multiple leads in the case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI will analyze evidence at the scene before deciding whether to take the statement and threat seriously. According to the story, a conviction of a federal arson charge in the case could carry a minimum 10-year prison sentence.
