Illinois Attorney General Taking Aim At Pabst's Colorful Malt Beverage
When we hear the word “Pabst” the word “blasted” comes into mind, so it’s no surprise that Woodbridge, Ill.-based Pabst Brewing Co. is having some trouble with its new, highly-alcoholic, colorful malt beverage, Blast.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says Pabst should not only lower the concentration of alcohol in the drink — around as much as four 12-ounce cans of beer — but also claims that it’s marketing to minors with its bright colors, fruity flavors and celebrity endorser, Snoop Dogg.
Madigan joins 17 other U.S. attorneys general in protesting against the drink, which has echoes of the battle against Four Loko last year. The makers of that drink agreed to remove caffeine from the formula.
