Texas Considers Upping Speed Limit To 85 MPH
Being that Texas is a giant state with wide expanses of dull spaces, you can’t blame people for wanting to rush through it faster. Lawmakers are considering upping the speed limit to 85 miles per hour on some stretches of highway. Currently, Texas has 500 miles of roads with a speed limit of 80.
USA Today reports the state house passed the speed limit bill last week, and the Senate is considering similar legislation.
The president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety believes increasing the speed limit is reckless, in effect trading a number of highway deaths that will result in the speed limit increase for speedier travel.
Speed limits aside, what speed do you feel comfortable driving on an open road? What about in traffic?
