Wholesale Meat Prices Up 25 Percent From A Year Ago
It’s gotten tougher over the last year to bring home the bacon, as well as the rib eye, hamburger and rump roast.
The DesMoines Register reports the prices of some wholesale beef and chicken have increased as much as 25 percent over the last year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which projects prices to continue to increase. Fifty percent lean pork bellies, which are used to produce bacon, are among the highest risers, increasing 64 percent from last year’s levels.
