Eight More Airports Allowed To Operate Flights To Cuba
Good news for those who’ve always wanted to go to Cuba: Eight more U.S. airports have been granted permission to schedule charter flights to and from the island nation.
The Associated Press reports Customs and Border Protection officials say that now you can schedule a charter flight from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and international airports in Baltimore, Dallas/Fort Worth, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Atlanta and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Times used to be, the only cities allowed flights from Los Angeles, Miami and New York. The new airport openings are attributed to an effort by President Barack Obama to reach out to the Cuban people.
Those flying to and from Cuba will still be limited to those who meet previously enforced travel requirements. Basically, students on educational trips and religious groups.
