At Least I Have A F****** Dollar

Spotted woodendesigner’s “My “At Least I Have A Fucking Dollar” Dollar” photo in The Consumerist Flickr pool. Here’s the backstory: “I got this dollar as change but did not notice until a few days later. I laughed because it really just sums up everything that has been going on with the stock market and in a way everything that I have been going through lately. I have been very hesitant to spend it and now after shooting it for you people to enjoy I have decided that I am going to save it….. Even though they also dated it on the back ( 9-20-07) so it was actually written a year ago.”

Why not put it back in to circulation to see if it shows up somewhere else.

  2. stacye says:

That’s kind of sad. Someone, somewhere, once had a reminder that they weren’t completely broke.

I hope they have a new “My Atleast I have my fuckin dollar Dollar Version 2.0.”

  3. krom says:

However, they don’t have a fuckin dollar anymore.

I started advertising my website on my bills now. It’s one form of advertising where you don’t have to worry about people throwing it away.

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy–>: But we can trade them at the bank for unblemished bills, and the bank can trade their collection of junky money back to the Mint.

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy–>: I’ve thought about doing that for my site as well, but then that would mean I would have to put content up there on the regular… which I suck at.

@bucklefilledbird: Mine is pretty much a cam site, so except for occasionally making sure all of the cameras are running, it runs itself. I did just do a re-design, and I’m adding some more content, but once that’s done, I’ll be pretty much forgetting about it.

Isn’t it illegal to deface US currency because its considered a legal document? I wouldn’t want something coming back to me if they decide to actually enforce it.

      • ~Ian~ says:

@Jenng: to my knowledge it is but a better reason for not doing it is thinking if everyone did that how annoying it would be to have to be spammed with porn sites and such on your money lol.

      • Git Em SteveDave loves this guy--> says:

@Jenng: It is illegal to deface money if you make it unable to be put back into circulation, i.e. defacing the portrait, blacking out the serial number, etc… I’m only adding a little text onto the back which doesn’t interfere with the seal or serial number. In all of my years doing Where’sGeorge, I haven’t had one problem.

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy–>: Why not just get a bunch of shitty plastic signs like all the other idiot D-I-Y ‘marketers’.

The only thing worse than advertising is BAD advertising. Really if you feel that badly that someone wants what you got get $20 together and buy an ad in the Pennysaver. Don’t pollute my fucking neighborhood.

I can’t understand why people can’t grasp that there is value in not having some jerkoff trying to sell you something at every turn. We are marching steadily towards ‘Idiocracy’.

      • Git Em SteveDave loves this guy--> says:

@loueloui: I’m not selling anything. The only thing I promote on my site is the myspace page of a friend of mine who is a comedian, which I do for free. My website has not made me one cent, and has, in fact, cost me money in getting new cams and registering a domain.

It *is* specifically illegal to advertise on currency – see:

This is different from the defacement law which is a grey area:

Your At Least I Have A Fucking Dollar Dollar? That dollar – and all the rest of them – belong to the Messiah – and starting January 20th he’s going to collect all of them.

That’s better then the [] that I see from time to time

I just found this thread and have entered this bill into I find it amazing that this dollar has gotten so much attention. I think it’s pretty cool.

  7. Nayrlladnar says:

Isn’t writing on currency technically illegal?
