Are you buying gifts for kids this year? Let us save you the trouble of asking them what they want: for the 5th year in a row, Barbie has emerged at the top of the list of toys most desired by little girls. For boys, the top item was Transformers. (Hey! Why not a Barbie Transformer? That would be awesome.) In a development that we imagine caught toy executives totally off guard, neither group of kids placed “toys made with lead, GHB, or intestine magnets” anywhere on their lists.
The Top 30 Business Schools (According To Business Week)

If you’re in the market for an MBA, check out Business Week’s slideshow (we know, ugh) of their top 30 business schools in the U.S. Coming in at number one: the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business, which has started requiring applicants to “submit up to four PowerPoint or similar slides with pictures, graphics, or text, along with two standard essay questions.” (We’re not saying that’s why they’re #1, we just think that’s funny.) Chicago isn’t cheap—we mean both the city and the school—but median pay post-MBA is $100,000.
Update: Getting Off Mailing Lists Is Fun

I’m happy to report that four months after requesting to get off the mailing lists for DELL (update: just got another catalog from Dell. Bastards!), Movies Unlimited, Tempurpedic, Guitar Center, New School, and my dentist’s office, they’ve all complied. Yesterday I requested to get off Macy’s and LL Bean. Still need to get off Harry & David, Banana Republic, and Old Navy. Out of the blue, I’ve also been getting these mailing address labels sent to me by various charities and other random unexpected pieces of junk mail where before I got none. I’m sure my creditors appreciate my checks arriving with the return address splayed on a picturesque snowman scene. I think when I signed up for a free cologne sample is how I got on the lists. Pretty stupid and I should’ve known better, but I thought it was going to be a whole bottle. It ended up being just a piece of scented paper. I resubmitted my name to the Direct Marketing Association’s Do Not Mail list (it costs $1), which stops thousands of companies from junk mailing you.
