Last fall, Amazon took its business model offline into the real world with a bricks-and-mortar bookstore that opened in its hometown of Seattle. The e-commerce giant is continuing its foray into the physical with its second book store, announcing that it’s preparing to open up shop as a book peddle in San Diego this summer.
The second Amazon Books location is set to open its doors at Westfield UTC mall in San Diego, reports The San Diego Union-Tribune, according to signage posted in front of the future store.
“We are excited to be bringing Amazon Books to the University Towne Center Mall in San Diego and we are currently hiring store managers and associates,” an Amazon spokeswoman told the newspaper. “Stay tuned for additional details down the road.”
The new store will likely look a lot like the first bookstore and feature many of the same kinds of books: at the Seattle location, Amazon takes advantage of its e-commerce knowledge to figure out which books people will want to buy in that particular area and stock the shelves with those titles, as well as other bestsellers.
It could also act as a showroom to display Amazon’s hardware products like the Kindle, Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Echo.
