IKEA Recalling 3 Million Baby Bed Canopies Because Sleep Strangulation Is Far From Dreamy
We know you love the way your little darling looks while slumbering away under a regal canopy, but after reports of kids getting tangled in that artfully draped fabric, IKEA is pulling eight different canopy models, some of which were sold way back in 1996. The company didn’t explain how those products lasted so long on the model without a recall yet.
“We have had some reports of young children getting entangled in these canopies,” an IKEA spokeswoman told the AFP, noting that some children had sustained minor injuries. “However there is no child that has had permanent injuries … and as a safety measure we are recalling the products.”
Anyone who’s bought the canopies should stop using them immediately and bring them to any IKEA in the world for a refund.
“We apologize for any possible inconvenience this may cause, but safety is always the highest priority for Ikea,” the company added in a statement.
The affected bed canopies are: LEGENDARISK, MINNEN bed Canopy set, BARNSLIG BOLL, MINNEN Brodyr, HIMMEL, FABLER, TISSLA and KLÄMMIG. Check out IKEA’s notice of the recall for specifics on article numbers, colors and designs of the recalled items.
