Walking into a hotel room that is not your very own home with the bed how you like it is often made even less welcoming when the place is a sauna or a veritable igloo. But often hotels set limits on how low and high the temperature can go, forcing guests to swelter/shiver it out. Unless you know how to tell the thermostat that you are a VIP.
Business Insider has an old tip made new again by way of a how-to video clip that shows just how ridiculously simple it is to override a hotel thermostat — granted, it’s to be assumed that not each and every thermostat will work exactly the same, but there’s no harm in trying.
It’s a snap! Or a hold: Hold down the “display button” and keep it held while pressing “off.” Release the “off” button and press the “up” arrow button. Let everything go and the thermostat should read VIP, allowing you to set it as you will.
