Pizza Hut Believes It’s “Re-Inventing The Stuffed Crust Experience” By Using 3 Kinds Of Cheese

There’s only so much you can do with a pizza before it becomes something that doesn’t even resemble a pizza — there’s a fine line between novelty food and monstrosities like the cheeseburger crust creation. But things like sauce, crust and cheese are pretty safe bets, so far as widespread appeal goes, which is perhaps why Pizza Hut is tripling down on the dairy and introducing a 3-Cheese Stuffed Crust Pizza.

What’s that you say? There’s nothing really new or innovative about stuffed crust pizza containing cheese? Maybe not, but Pizza Hut seems to think it’s the Benjamin Franklin of pizza.

“We are re-inventing the stuffed-crust experience,” says its chief marketing officer.

We’re not quite sure if you can reinvent something simply by saying so, but heck, there’s cheese to be had.

Anyway, it’s the first permanent stuffed crust addition to the chain’s menu in two decades, reports USA Today, and it’s all about the millennials, because that’s all anything is about these days, apparently.

And there’s nothing more millennial than social networking, which is why Pizza Hut is urging customers to battle for the privilege of having white cheddar, mozzarella and provolone cheese via Twitter: The new menu item will roll out nationwide on Oct. 20, but three cities — San Jose, Calif., Salem, Ore. and Silver Spring, Md. — will get it early on Oct. 7. If customers want their town to get the pizza early, they can tweet at the company and beg for it to arrive Oct. 14.

“People want more cheese — and they never complain when they get it,” says Wiley Bates III, executive chef at Pizza Hut. “This is a better explosion of cheese.”

That, we can agree with. Cheese explosions are the best kind of explosions.
