Some bargain-hunting label-lovers have been waiting eagerly for Target’s Sept. 15 launch of a new clothing and accessory line from designer Phillip Lim. But thanks to a handful of stores that screwed up and put the clothes out for sale a week early, some items are now available to snag on eBay.

Target reps admit to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that a handful of stores jumped the gun in placing the Phillip Lim items on shelves. The company describes the goof as an “unfortunate operational oversight.”

It’s an oversight that will likely be profitable for some eBay sellers. A quick search on the auction site turned up around 30 items currently on sale, still almost a week in advance of the line’s actual debut date. Prices on eBay run from $15 for a nylon tote bag to $149 for this men’s shirt to the $250 Buy-It-Now price tag on this bag.

Of course, these are nowhere near the prices that eBay sellers were trying to get following Target’s calamitous simultaneous launch of its new website and its then-new Missoni for Target line. After those items sold out rapidly, with many customers unable to even get onto Target.com to make their purchases, hopeful eBay sellers were charging insane mark-ups on what should have been reasonably priced designer goods.
