The Great Peanut Butter Recall of 2012 is now the Great Peanut Recall of 2012. What began with salmonella illnesses traced back to a few varieties at Trader Joe’s has expanded to include foods including peanuts processed by Sunland, but made by a variety of manufacturers. These products include candy, ice cream, and other tasty peanut-including treats.

The list is extensive and keeps growing, so we’re not going to reproduce it here: basically, if there’s anything in your house that includes nuts, go to the FDA’s master recall list.

If you have an item on the list, return it to the retailer, call the manufacturer of that specific product, or call Sunland’s recall hotline at 1-866-837-1018. That number is now staffed 24 hours a day.

Salmonella can make anyone sick, but poses a particular risk to children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems. About 400 people die of salmonellosis in the United States every year.
