Notice About Errors With Password Reset Emails

Our hosting provider is having significant difficulty delivering password reset emails to our users. Today, they made a change that resulted in a large amount of backlogged emails being sent out to users who had requested a password reset in the past two weeks. If you received such an email and are concerned or would like assistance, please email and our internal team will assist you.

I was wondering what that was about. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. bikeoid says:

WOO HOO, I finally have reset my password and have a voice again.

  3. HogwartsProfessor says:

Ha ha, I had already reset my password, but I thought you were still having problems, so I reset it again. Oh well, no harm done. :)

  4. Charles Edward Winthrop III, Esquire, Investigator of the Unknown Music says:

It would REALLY help if the password reset email didn’t read like a Nigerian prince wrote it, too. My email flagged it as spam based on that alone.

  5. Jenny8675309 says:

Whew! Happy to know that it’s your issue because I was kind of paranoid thinking that someone was messing with me!

  6. Happy Tinfoil Cat says:

I have to thank ‘support’ for helping me with this. Now THAT’S customer service the way it should be.

  7. Its_BS says:

What they did seemed to work! My request is no longer backlogged and was able to reset.

  8. dirtleg says:

I got the email and it was dated July 27. Electronic snale mail?
Thanks for posting the explanation. I was weirding out.

    • pamelad says:

Yes, that e-mail seemed very suspicious. (I saw it before reading this thread.) I received the message today, and it was dated July 28. Had trouble logging in to the site, but I wasn’t about to go back to the e-mail and click on the link to re-set the password.

Password is working just fine now, with no re-setting or further action on my part.

Sounds like Consumerist needs to call customer service for their hosting provider. If that fails than an EECB might do the trick! /s

    • DrLumen says:

Agreed. This has not been a smooth or quick transition/upgrade. if nothing else all the issues should be a definite and sizable negotiating point at renewal time!

  10. damageddude says:

  21. PBallRaven says:

Strange thing is, that I’ve been getting them at email addresses that I never used with Consumerist. I suspect phishing attempts of some sort but not gonna click through just to check.
