Video: Consumer Reports' Preview Of The Kindle Fire

As you probably already know, earlier today Amazon announced the launch of the $199 Kindle Fire tablet. Consumer Reports Electronics Editor Paul Reynolds has had the chance to get a brief look at the device and has filed this video report with his initial impressions.

Among the things to be considered when comparing the Fire to current market leader the iPad, says Reynolds, is the fact that while the Fire is Android-based, it does not currently allow you to download apps at will from the Android Marketplace. Additionally, its screen is smaller and it lacks a camera.

However, at the price point of $199, it will be interesting to see if consumers are willing to give the Fire a shot.

Check out the video below and go to ConsumerReports.org for Paul’s more detailed take on the Fire, along with his initial impressions of the $79 Kindle and the $99 Kindle Touch.
