Netflix Testing Kid-Friendly User Interface
We never thought of the Netflix user interface as being overly complicated, but then again, none of us are 5-year-old kids searching for an episode of That’s So Raven. For those youngsters, the online video service has begun offering certain members a “Just For Kids” tab on its website that has a UI optimized for the elementary school set.
At the top of this page is a scrolling roster of characters from various for-kids offerings, like Hello Kitty, Blue’s Clues, Strawberry Shortcake and Shaun the Sheep.
From GigaOm:
A click on one of those characters opens a new page that offers access to TV show episodes and movies starring that character. Each episode is previewed with a screenshot, and there is barely any text at all. Everything is optimized for instant playback of the episodes displayed.
It’s not yet known if this is just a test or the beginning of a larger roll-out. We’d love to hear feedback from any of you who see this pop up on your Netflix page, especially if you have young kids.
