Apple Deletes "Gay Cure" App From App Store
Apple pulled a homophobic app from the App Store, but only after tens of thousands of people signed a petition asking it to do so. The app in question was meant to “cure” people of homosexuality. A religious group is responsible for the app, which reportedly used biblical teachings to attempt its goal.
The app remained online as petitions circulated the internet calling for its takedown.
An Apple spokesman told Fox News why it took the app down, but not why it approved the app in the first place:
“We removed the Exodus International app from the App Store because it violates the developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.”
A spokesperson from the religious group disagrees with the “gay cure” description for the fallen app:
“It’s being touted as a gay cure app, and nothing could be further from the truth. We present a redemptive, biblical world view on sexuality … it’s a message of love and acceptance of those that are struggling with same-sex attraction.”
