Last.fm Makes Listeners Pay For Service On Phones, Home Devices

Those who hit up Last.fm for their streaming music needs may soon have to pay for the privilege.

On its blog, the service announced those who listen on most mobile phones or on several streaming devices will have to pay a $3 monthly fee starting Feb. 15. In return, paying customers won’t have to suffer through ads.

Those who access the service through Windows Phone 7 get a temporary reprieve, not having to pay for a subscription until at least the end of the year. And Last.fm will remain free to Xbox Live members and those accessing the service through their computer’s web browser.

If you listen to Last.fm on a phone or streaming advice, will you pay the subscription fee or move to a free service?
